The agreement outlines that the Village Board has full authority through the regular budgeting process to approve or disapprove the hiring of additional fire fighters.
Background
For many years the IAFF allowed their position of Fire Inspector to be performed outside of the bargaining unit as long as a certain employee (a retired Fire Fighter) was performing the work. The Department of Labor ruled in 2012 that when that person retired from their position, the Village and the Union would be required to negotiate the disposition of that work. The employee has retired and therefore the Village and the Union reached agreement about the disposition of that work as outlined in this agreement.
