Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

Overview
The Department of Public Works is responsible for collection of refuse and recycling materials from Village owned containers that are placed throughout the community, primarily in the business districts. To assist in this effort, a contractor is utilized. Advanced Disposal performed this work last year and this would renew the agreement for one year.

Fiscal Impact
The FY 2017 budget, for Street Services, provides $125,000.00 to perform refuse/recycling container pick up in the General Contractuals account no. 1001-43740-761-530660. Additionally, $3,000.00 of the contract total will be charged to the Parking Fund for weekly collection of refuse in the parking structures, in account nos. 5060-43770-(784 or 788) -530660. The total value for this work would be $128,000.00



Background
The Village is responsible for maintaining approximately 300 refuse and recycling containers throughout the Village. Many are within the twelve separate Business District areas which require regular refuse and recycling container pick up. There are also several events that occur in the Village that will require additional pick up prior to its occurrence.

Competitive bids were opened in April, 2016 when the Village issued a call for bids for 2016 Refuse/Recycling Container Pick Up. Five refuse companies were contacted and invited to bid. Three refuse companies requested the bid package and one of them submitted bids. The only bid was submitted by Advanced Disposal of Melrose Park, Illinois.
