Overview

Overview

Competitive bids were opened on May 18, 2017, for the Pavement Patching Project.  Eight contractors picked up bid documents and seven bids were received.  The low responsible bid was submitted by Schroeder Asphalt Services, Inc. in an amount of $58,570.75.  Staff is recommending approving the contract at the available budget amount of $125,000, which is higher than the bid amount, in order to get additional pavement patching work completed.

Body

Staff Recommendation

Approve the Resolution.

Fiscal Impact

The costs for this project would be funded through the FY 2017 Capital Improvement Fund, Public Works - Engineering, for Local Street Construction account no. 3095-43780-101-570951 which provides $200,000 for pavement patching.  There is currently $1250,000 available in this fund as $50,000 was allocated for alley patching with the Alley program and $25,000 is programmed to be used as part of an upcoming street resurfacing contract to patch a portion of Austin Boulevard.  It is recommended to approve the contract at the available budget amount of $125,000, which is higher than the bid amount, in order to get additional pavement patching work completed.

Background

This project includes patching of local streets throughout the Village.  The locations where work is planned to take place are shown on the attached map.  A number of locations are on streets where micro-surfacing is also planned.  It is recommended to approve the contract at the available budget amount of $125,000, which is higher than the bid amount, in order to get additional pavement patching work completed.  Staff will add additional locations for pavement patching that were not initially considered due to budgetary concerns.  The contractor, Schroeder Asphalt Services, has completed previous pavement patching projects with the Engineering Division.
