Fiscal Impact
The FY 2017 Capital Improvements Fund Budget, account no. 3095-43780-721-570951, provides $50,000.00 for Thermoplastic Pavement Striping. To date no funds have been used from this account for this work.

Background
The Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) is a joint purchasing program for local government agencies. The Northwest Municipal Conference, on behalf of the SPC solicited bids for a vendor to perform Thermoplastic Pavement Markings on participating municipalities' streets. The low bid was submitted by Superior Road Striping, Inc. of Melrose Park, Illinois. The SPC's Governing Board has approved the first of three possible one-year contract extensions on the SPC 2017 Thermoplastic Lane Marking Contract to Superior Road Striping from April 12, 2017 through April 11, 2018.

Thermoplastic Pavement Markings typically last approximately 3 - 5 years and require ongoing maintenance. The Village does not have the staff or equipment to perform a large scale maintenance project such as this and relies on outside contractors for this service. The Department of Public Works is able to complete this work on a smaller scale.
