Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

Staff is proposing a reduction in the required membership for the Community Design Commission from thirteen (13) members to eleven (11) members.

Staff Recommendation
Staff supports the proposed amendment to lower the number of commission seat which will bring the number more into line with other citizen-appointed commissions. This need is due in difficulty in filling all positions on a regular basis.

Background
The Community Design Commission, formed in the 1970's, is the largest standing citizen-appointed commission with thirteen (13) seats. Historically, the commission has had difficulty consistently filling all thirteen (13) seats. Presently there are three vacancies on this commission and two additional members second terms will be ending in June of this year. The Historic Preservation Commission and Farmers Market Commission are the next highest with eleven (11) seats. The majority of the commissions are either seven (7) or nine (9) seats.

Previous Board Action
The Village Board amended this Chapter of the Village Code in 2011 by incorporating Forestry Commission responsibilities into the Community Design Commission's enabling language.
