Overview

Overview

The Police Department has surplus inventory that is no longer necessary or useful to the Village and, therefore, that the continued storage and ownership of these items are no longer in the Village’s best interest.

Body

Staff Recommendation

The items listed in the attachement to the Ordinance include items ranging from bicycles, tools, electronics and jewelry that will be sold/auctioned only by PropertyRoom.com.

Fiscal Impact

Historically the proceeds of any sale after deducting the cost of storage, advertising, selling and other expenses incident to the handling or selling of lost, stolen or seized property, shall be paid to the police pension fund of the Village.

Background

In accordance with Village policy and State Statute 65 ILCS 5/11-76-4, the Village’s corporate authorities may, by Ordinance, authorize disposal of property they may designate in order to dispose of surplus property not usable to the Village.  The Village, through the Police Department, submits the items listed in the attachement to the Ordinance to be declared as surplus.
