Overview

Overview

This project involves repairing a section of the Public Works Center roof damaged by moisture and for cleaning of the white roof section areas.

Body

Staff Recommendation

Approve the Resolution.

Fiscal Impact

The FY2018 CIP Building Improvement Fund account # 3012-43790-101-540673 provides funding of $25,000.00 for this project.  $23,000.00 remains for this project.

The difference of $2,395.00 needed for the Public Works Center roof repair project would come from the savings from the main fire station overhead door project.    $50,000.00 was budgeted in the FY2018 CIP Building Improvement Fund for the main fire station overhead door replacement project.  Of that amount only $34,205.00 was spent, leaving $15,795.00 remaining for the Public Works project.

If approved, the Independent Contractor Agreement with Anthony Roofing would not exceed $25,395.00.

Background

The Public Works Center was opened in the fall of 2007.  Since that time, the white reflective roof has never been professionally cleaned and no major repairs have been necessary.  The white roof area has become very dark and dirty.

In the summer of 2018 an infrared thermographic roof scan of the Public Works Center was completed which showed a small area damaged by moisture.  The repair of this area (approximately 25 square feet) is included in the scope of work for this project.  Funds were identified in the 5-year CIP Building Improvement Fund for additional and more comprehensive repairs to the Public Works Center roof in 2021.
