Background

On November 2, 2009, the Village adopted Ordinance Number 2009-O-75 which prohibits video gaming in the Village, which is codified as Section 11-1-5 of the Village Code. Recently, there have been reports of electronic sweepstakes machines being proposed or installed in neighboring communities. The North Avenue Neighborhood Association District requested that Village staff review the Village Code to determine if such machines would be allowed under the Code. After reviewing the Village Code and the use of such machines in neighboring communities, staff recommends that the Village adopt the attached ordinance.
