Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

This ordinance proposes to provide a waiver of the permit fee for the repair of a private property water service that has been identified to be found leaking by the Villages leak detection program.

Fiscal Impact
The permit fee for the repair of a water services is $200.00. The latest Village leak detection program in the early fall of 2018 found 16 private side water leaks. The proposed waiver would equate to $3,200.00 of permit fees being waived.

Background
In an effort to reduce non-revenue water loss the Public Works Department utilizes a firm that specializes in locating water system leaks. Leaks could be found on the watermain, fire hydrants, water valves or water service lines.

The responsibility of the water service line to any building is shared by both the Village and the building owner. The Village is responsible for the section of the water service line from the Village watermain to the curb round-way (commonly called the shutoff valve or b-box which is typically located in the parkway). The building owner is responsible for the water service line from the curb round-way to the water meter.

In the fall of 2018 the Village found 16 water service line leaks that are the responsibility of the building owner. It is in the village's best interest to have these leaks repaired as soon as possible to minimize the non-revenue water loss.
