Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining approximately 250 lane miles which includes the sweeping of main arterials and residential streets as well as the twelve separate Business District Areas. Waste Management of Illinois, Inc. provided the lowest responsible bid.

Fiscal Impact
In the FY2019 General Fund, Street Services budget, there is $140,000.00 to perform street sweeping services in the General Contractuals account no., 1001-43740-761-530660.

Background
One of the responsibilities of the Public Works Department is to sweep the streets. This work over the last ten years has been completed by a contractor working for the Village. There are approximately 250 lane miles of streets that need to be swept regularly. Business districts and main street roadways are typically swept 16 times a year. Residential streets are typically swept eight times a year.

In addition, this contract provides support to the Leaf Pickup Program by sweeping the streets as the Public Works Department finishes up the program. There is generally no sweeping over the winter months unless weather permits. There are times when the contractor is not available or if it is a small area, the Department will sweep the street.

Competitive bids were opened on June 19, 2019 in response to a call for bids for 2019-2020 Village Wide Street Sweeping Services that was sent out on June 5, 2019. The bid was advertised in the Wednesday Journal and was posted on the Village web site.
