Recommendation
Recommendation
Table the request to afford the opportunity for staff to provide information related to the important role that school resources officers have served in Oak Park Public Schools since approximately 1999 and how that is distinct from the role that school resource officers may hold in other schools districts in Illinois and elsewhere.

Related to Oak Park and River Forest High School, the Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement (IGA) adopted in 2014 as a successor agreement, provides for School District 200 to pay the Village for the salary and benefits of the School Resource Officer on an annual basis through the 2024/2025 school year. The initial 1999 IGA was an agreement with the Villages of Oak Park, River Forest and D200.

Related Brooks and Julian Middle Schools, pursuant to the 1999 IGA, School District 97 does not share in the cost of the SROs.

The Ordinance, as amended for a Special Use Permit for Stadium Lights, at OPRF High School is also attached as it provides for D200 to have Oak Park Police support football games at the cost of D200 for reference.
