Background

Representatives from Hephzibah Home approached the Village with an idea for remote learning opportunities for school aged children due to the current school district requirement for remote learning.  They were interested in occupying unused spaces within the community in order to support families attemting to manage work, school and daycare. The Plan Commission held a special remote participation public hearing on this application. The results of that meeting are provided below under Citizen Advisory Commission Action.

Citizen Advisory Commission Action

The Plan Commission held a special meeting on Monday, August 24, 2020 for a public hearing on this agenda item.  At that meeting, Ms. Amy O’Rourke with Hephzibah Home provided an overview of the intent for the temporary educational day camp - remote learning use. Due to the current school environment with remote learning requirements, this temporary use would allow parents the ability to access a location for their children outside of the home.  The Plan Commission voted unanimously in favor of this zoning ordinance text amendment.

The Plan Commission held a special meeting on Thursday, August, 27, 2020 to approve their findings of fact report.

Intergovernmental Cooperation Opportunities

Zoning and land use matters are unique to Village government within the corporate limits of Oak Park and therefore, intergovernmental cooperation opportunities do not exist.
