Overview

Overview

The Collective Bargaining Agreement for employees who work in the Water & Sewer Division of the Department of Public Works expired on June 30, 2020.   This Agreement is for the period of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2023.

Body

Staff Recommendation

Approve the Resolution.

Fiscal Impact

The salary and benefits of the employees covered by the agreement are funded in the Water and Sewer fund.

Background

This is the successor Agreement to the one that expired on June 30, 2020.  Generally, this Agreement is for a three-year term with a wage freeze in the first year, and a wage re-opener in the second and third years given the uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The employees in this unit include those who operate the Village’s water system and perform various maintenance activities and repairs to the Village’s water and sewer lines.  This Agreement also addresses a wage equity issue between these employees who are as skilled as other employees in the Department of Public Works and in some cases, perform more complex work.
