Overview
Overview
Various unanticipated underground utility conflicts, increased costs for contaminated soil disposal, additional work to replace broken valves, and unknown sewer conditions added additional cost above the approved contract amount for the Lake Street Sewer and Water Main Improvements project. These changes total approximately $102,000 and adjust the previously approved contract amount of $2,190,623 to $2,292,623.

There are available funds in the FY2020 Budget for this change order in the Water and Sewer Fund, with the Water and Sewer Fund, Public Works - Sewer, Sewer Collection, Capital Improvements, for sewer main replacement, account no. 5040-43750-781-570707 providing $102,000 for this change order from cost savings from deferred projects.

Background
During construction various additional quantities of items resulted in an overall increase to the project's costs. There were additional quantities for removal and disposal of contaminated soils, additional water valves were needed to isolate existing broken water valves, changes due to unknown utility conflicts, additional sewer repair work in the lining section which increased the construction costs for the project by $102,000, or roughly 4.6%.
