Overview
The Public Works Department is responsible for repair and maintenance of all Village streets and sidewalks. Some of the bluestone sidewalk and granite crosswalks are in need of repair. MYS, Incorporated provided a bid for this work.

Fiscal Impact
In the Fiscal Year 2020 Capital Improvement Fund, there is $20,000.00 for maintenance and repair of brick streets in account no., 3095-43780-101-570951. There is also $25,000.00 to replace damaged or missing paver bricks and tree pits and in ground planters in account no., 3095-43780-101-570959.
Background
The Village is responsible for maintaining the bluestone sidewalk and granite crosswalks along Marion Street in the Down Town Oak Park and Pleasant District areas. The granite crosswalks at South Blvd-Marion and North Blvd-Marion intersections are in great need of repair along with a couple areas of bluestone sidewalk.
The locations for the work include: The north, west & south entrances to the bluestone “island” between Marion/North Blvd/Lot #10, west crosswalk at North Blvd/Marion, east crosswalk at North Blvd/Marion, west crosswalk at South Blvd/Marion, south crosswalk at South Blvd/Marion, east crosswalk at South Blvd/Marion and 1120 Pleasant-by alley.
Competitive bids were opened on August 21, 2020 in response to a call for bids for the Bluestone & Granite Repair Project which was sent out on August 5, 2020. The call for bids was posted on the Village website. Five contractors were contacted directly. Two bids were received. The low responsible bid was submitted by MYS, Incorporated for $36,549.00.
MYS, Incorporated has done this and other types of work for the Village in the past. They have provided responsive and quality work.
Alternatives
The Village Board could delay action to gain additional information.

The Village Board has approved this contractor’s work for this type of work in the past.

Anticipated Future Actions/Commitments
It is anticipated that the Public Works Department will be bringing more work of this type for consideration in 2021.
