Competitive bids were opened on September 3, 2020, for the 20-2 Resurfacing of Various Streets project. Six contractors picked up bid documents and three bids were received. The low responsible bid was submitted by Schroeder Asphalt Services, Inc. in an amount of $571,344.50.

Fiscal Impact
The FY2020 Budget includes $490,221 for the local street resurfacing and the Austin Boulevard resurfacing in the Capital Improvement Fund, Public Works - Engineering, Local Street Construction and $105,000 in the CDBG Fund for Development Customer Services - Neighborhood Services, Capital Improvements account no. 2083-46201-668-583652 to fund this project.
Background
This project includes 6 resurfacing blocks on 3 different streets, patching 20 blocks on 12 different streets, and upgrading various corners through the village to be in compliance with ADA requirements using CDBG funds.
The project includes the resurfacing of the Village's side of Austin Boulevard from Lake Street to just north of Chicago Avenue. The resurfacing of Austin was originally planned to be completed by the City of Chicago at the Village's cost per the Intergovernmental Agreement from July 2019 following the Village's water main improvement project on Austin Boulevard. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Village delayed work on the water main project this spring due to its potential impacts to the water supply to the West Suburban Medical Center. The City of Chicago was unable to delay their work and proceeded with resurfacing their half of Austin this summer.
