Overview
Overview
On July 6, 2020, the Village Board approved the disposal of a 1999 HME SMEAL Fire engine. The Village's usual paths of resale have not yielded satisfactory results (on line sale/auction). Staff is requesting the Village enter into a Listing and Marketing Commission Agreement with Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus to sell the Village surplus Fire Engine on a consignment basis. Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus specializes in sale of used Fire equipment.

Recommendation
Approve the Resolution.

Fiscal Impact
Funds received for vehicles and or equipment will be placed in the fund from which they were purchased originally, in this case the Fleet Replacement Fund.

Background
In accordance with Village policy and State law (65 ILCS 5/11-76-4), the Village may, by Ordinance, authorize the disposition of designated personal property (as opposed to real property) in order to dispose of vehicles and materials no longer usable to the Village. For this vehicle, the Ordinance was approved on July 6, 2020.

Historically, the Village has had success using internet auctions for disposal of items. The 1999 HME SMEAL is a unique item that is going to require a vendor that specializes in this type of equipment in order to get the best return for the Village.

The polling of other municipalities indicates that Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus has been the most recommended vendor to handle this type of transaction.

Alternatives
The Village Board can delay action to gain additional information.
