Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Funds can be used to pay up to half the costs of the Village's share of eligible items for the federally funded Oak Park Avenue Resurfacing project. The Village receives MFT funds from the state to be used for projects or maintenance of the roadways. This resolution authorizes the use of up to $257,542 to fund the Village's share of the Oak Park Avenue Resurfacing project.

Background
Motor Fuel Tax funds can be used to fund up to half of the eligible local costs for the Oak Park Avenue resurfacing project. This resolution authorizes up to $257,542 in MFT funds for this project.

The Illinois Department of Transportation bid the project this January and the project is nearing completion. The resurfacing project included resurfacing Oak Park Avenue from Roosevelt Road to Pleasant Street and from Ontario Street to North Avenue along with corner sidewalk ramp improvements and safety improvements for bump-outs, pedestrian-activated beacons at four intersections, and an enhanced bike crossing at the Erie intersection for the future bike boulevard.

The alternative to this recommendation could be to delay action to gain additional information.
