Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

The Agreement between the Village of Oak Park and Metra for the Operation and Maintenance of the Oak Park Metra Station expired on March 5, 2021. This item will formally allow the Village and Metra to continue to operate under the same lease terms on a month-to-month basis until a successor agreement is approved.

Fiscal Impact
The Village currently maintains the station using contract maintenance services. The Fiscal Year 2022 has $92,500.00 budgeted for this maintenance in account no. 1001-43790-717 under various accounts.

Background
In March 2001, the Village and Metra entered into a 20-year agreement for the operation, maintenance, and use of the commuter station located between Harlem Avenue and Marion Street. The agreement expired on March 5, 2021. Discussions have been ongoing regarding a successor agreement however, due to the pandemic neither the Village nor Metra were able to prioritize the work on the next agreement. During this time, the Village has continued to provide the same level of maintenance service.

Both Metra and Village staff believe that until a successor agreement is approved Metra and the Village should enter into a month-to-month agreement.

Metra typically does not provide the level of maintenance that is required for the commuter stations so it enters into agreements with local municipalities who will then perform routine maintenance.
