Fiscal Impact

The services provided under the Public Health Nursing Services Agreement are budgeted and divided equally between Mass Vaccination Grant/Grant Contractuals (2138.44560.101.530656) (50%) and ARPA/Contractuals (2078.41300.101.530656) (50%).

Background

This position is required to perform all the work required of a certified public health department as it relates to communicable diseases. Communicable disease control activities had historically been carried out by a salaried public health nurse until January 2014, at which time the decision was made to fill the vacated nurse position with part-time contracted staff to reduce the overall cost. The Village interviewed candidates to fill this position, and this contractor, Patrice Steurer, R.N., has done this work previously with the Village and will be a full-time temporary grant-funded employee through December 31, 2022.

Alternatives

The Village is a certified public health department and is required to perform this work related to communicable disease control. As noted in the "Background" above, this work could also be performed by a full-time employee.

Previous Board Action

The Board of Trustees previously approved a nursing services agreement for Patrice Steurer, R.N.
