Overview
This is an agreement between the Village and the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council and Sergeants and Lieutenants to implement an alternative work schedule in 2023. This agreement allows the Village and the Union to agree to an alternate work schedule than what is described in the collective bargaining agreement for a one-year period. The Village and the Union typically create these arrangements annually outside of contract negotiations.

Background
In the past the Village has entered into similar agreements when the Union and Village wish to experiment with alternate work schedules aside from the contract terms. Last year the Union and the Village agreed to a 10-hour work schedule. The current contract has provisions that establish or assume 8-hour shifts.
Alternatives
The Village Board could seek additional information, however the timing of this agreement is critical in that there are other operational matters that need to follow this agreement in preparation for the schedule going into effect for 2023.
