Recommendation

Adopt the Resolution.

Fiscal Impact

The contract will be paid using the ARPA fund as discussed at the Finance Committee on November 17, 2022 and the Special Meeting of the Village Board on November 29, 2022.   This contract is for $55,000.  There are $110,000 ARPA funds set-aside for contractual nursing.  Since this work is as needed, any unused ARPA funds for this purpose will be returned to the ARPA fund at the end of the fiscal year.

Background

As discussed with the Finance Committee and the Village Board, the Health Department needs additional support in FY 23 in nursing services.  This position will support the work of the Village’s one(1) full-time nurse.  In particular communicable disease control activities are backlogged due to the pandemic. We are seeking approval to continue using the services of our contractor, Patrice Steurer, R.N., to help us meet state standards in our communicable disease program through Dec 31, 2023.

Alternatives

The Village is a certified public health department and is required to perform this work related to communicable disease control. This work could also be performed by the addition of another full-time employee.

Previous Board Action

Last year the Village Board approved APRA funds for this same purpose.
