Overview

Overview

The Building Maintenance Division requested a proposal from Studio GC to provide design engineering for the Main Fire Station Bunk Room Renovations Project and the North Fire Station Emergency Egress Project. Studio GC has previously designed the south fire station bunk room renovations project and they performed very well during that project and they are most qualified to perform these services.

Recommendation

Approve the Resolution.

Background

At the February 6, 2023 Village Board meeting, the Village Board approved three Master Agreements with three different architectural and engineering firms to complete architectural and engineering design work for the Village’s CIP Building Improvement Fund projects. Studio GC is one of the three architectural and engineering firms with a Master Agreement approved by the Village Board for completing projects via a task order procurement process. Studio GC worked very well with the General Contractor and Village staff throughout the south fire station bunk room renovations project completed in 2022.

The 2023 Fire Department projects include renovations to the second-floor bunk room area at the main fire station to accommodate female staff by providing separate sleeping quarters, in-kind replacement of two rooftop air conditioning units at the main fire station, and installation of a new emergency egress doorway and exterior stairway at the north fire station to address life safety conditions previously not being met.

Fiscal Impact

The FY2023 CIP Building Improvement Fund Budget account no. 3012-43790-101-540673    includes $240,000 for the main fire station bunk room renovations project (which includes design and construction), $25,000 to replace two air conditioning systems at the main fire station, and $50,000 to install a new emergency egress on the second floor of the north fire station.
