Background
The ILETSB announced the solicitation to provide funding for cameras purchased and installed between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2023.
Awards and disbursements of grant funds shall consider the following factors:
* The number of law enforcement officers employed by the Agency
* The number of vehicle cameras currently available to the Agency
* The median household income in the Agency's community (as identified by the U.S. Census Bureau)
* The crime rate in the Agency's community (as identified by the Illinois State Police)
* The total number of vehicular accidents/crashes in the Agency's community
* Whether or not the Agency's community received revenue from red light and/or speed enforcement cameras
* Agency compliance with the reporting requirements of the Uniform Crime Reporting Act
* Agency compliance with reporting requirements of the Law Enforcement Officer-Worn Body Camera Act.
Fiscal Impact
If awarded, the grant will reimburse $594.15 for each of the 100 cameras the Police Department purchased, a potential reimbursement of $59,415. This is a non-competitive grant with no guarantee of receiving the funds.
