Background
Comedy Plex, LLC, DBA Comedy Plex (“Comedy Plex”) seeks certain amendments to the Entertainment Club Class D-9 liquor license. The proposed Ordinance contains certain amendments to the Class D-9 liquor license classification, which include the following: (1) the sale of non-alcoholic beverages must be available at all times that alcoholic beverages are sold; (2) a prohibition that no persons under the age of 21 shall be allowed into an entertainment club without the supervision of a parent or legal guardian; (3) prepackaged snacks must be available for consumption when alcoholic beverages are sold; (4) no more than two alcoholic beverages shall be served to a person at any time; and (5) all manager, supervisors, sellers and servers of alcoholic beverages are required to have completed beverage alcohol sellers and servers education and training (BASSET).
Comedy Plex proposes to operate a comedy club at 1128 Lake Street in the Village that will offer high-quality comedy shows to downtown Oak Park. Comedy Plex will also offer theater class training. Comedy Plex plans to offer beer, wine, spirits and mixed alcoholic beverages, and packaged snacks for sale.
Comedy Plex presented its application to the Liquor Control Review Board (“LCRB”) at the LCRB’s May 3, 2023, special meeting.
