Overview
The Police Department has training and live taser cartridges that can be disposed of as surplus because they are no longer useful to the Village.

Recommendation
Recommendation
Adopt the Ordinance.
Background
In accordance with Village policy and State Statute 65 ILCS 5/11-76-4, the Village’s corporate authorities may, by Ordinance, authorize the disposal of surplus property not usable to the Village.
The Police Department recently transitioned to new Axon Tasers. Part of the Village’s agreement with Axon was to return the old devices. However, Axon does not want the training and live cartridges back. They also have no value due to being obsolete and out of warranty. However, there are some small police departments that have limited funds and are still operating with old tasers. Instead of disposing of them as suggested by Axon, the Police Department wishes to donate the items to department(s) in need.
