Overview
Overview
The operational efficiency of the Fleet Services Division of Public Works could improve with the installation of additional electrical circuits and receptacles along the outside walls by allowing Fleet staff to more quickly service vehicles and equipment. This project provides for these improvements as well as shop lighting improvements.

Fiscal Impact
The FY 2017 Capital Improvement, Building Improvement Fund Budget provides a total of $30,000.00 for the Fleet Shop Electrical and Lighting Upgrade Project in account no. 3012-43790-101-540673.

The proposed not to exceed amount of this contract is $30,539.51. The difference of $539.51 could be covered by unspent funds in the 2017 CIP Building Improvement Fund, Various Public Works Repairs budget.

Background
The Department of Public Works issued a Request for Proposals on February 1st, 2017 for the Fleet Shop Electrical and Lighting Upgrade Project. A pre-proposal meeting was held on February 9th. Five contractors attended the meeting. Two proposals were received. All Tech Energy, Inc., from Schaumburg, IL, a WBE, submitted the lowest responsive proposal.

To improve the efficiency, safety and daily operations of the Fleet Maintenance Division of the Department of Public Works, staff prepared a scope of work to add electrical outlets at various locations throughout the maintenance shop and to improve the lighting throughout the entire shop area by adding new light fixtures and retrofitting existing light fixtures with new energy-efficient LED fixtures.
