The Engineering Division opened bids on September 14, 2017 for the Lake Street Sidewalk Repairs project. Five contractors received proposal documents and two bids were received. The lowest responsible bid being submitted by MYS, Inc., in an amount of $37,950.

Fiscal Impact
The FY2017 budget includes $25,000 in funds for this project in the Capital Improvement Fund, Public Works - Engineering, Streetscaping Account no. 3095-43780-101-570959 for Paver brick and tree pit/in ground planter maintenance.

The bid amount of $37,960 is over the budgeted amount by $12,950. There are available funds in the same Capital Improvement Fund, Public Works - Engineering, Streetscaping Account no. 3095-43780-101-570959 from unspent funds from savings for the Colt Site Streetscaping to fund the remaining $12,950 needed for this work.

Background
The Village allocates $25,000 annually to replace damaged or missing paver bricks, repairing tree pits and improve the aesthetics in various business districts. The project this year focuses on Lake St between Harlem Ave and Forest Ave. This maintenance work will eliminate trip hazard liabilities throughout this stretch of busy streetscape while a long term plan for this area is being determined.
