Overview
Overview
The Public Works Department, Water and Sewer Division, has disposed of 2,690 tons of excavated materials to date this year from water and sewer repair excavations. This amount exceeds the anticipated amount of spoils that would be disposed of this year. Additional funds of $45,000 are requested to allow for disposal of materials for the rest of the fiscal year for a total of $140,000.

Fiscal Impact
The total amount anticipated to be spent on this service for the rest of FY2018 is estimated to be increased from $95,000.00 to $140,000.00.
The FY 2018 Water & Sewer Fund Budget provides $90,000.00 for dumping and disposal of excavated materials. In the Water Budget, External Support, account number 5040-43730-777-530667 there is $45,000.00 and in the Sewer Budget, External Support, account number 5040-43750-781-530667 there is $45,000.00. Also, in the General Fund, Streets Division Budget, External Support, account number 1001-43740-761-530667 there is $5,000.00.
It is proposed to utilize the Water & Sewer Fund balance to cover the cost of the additional disposal. A budget amendment will be prepared for a future Village Board Budget Amendment item.
Background
The Department of Public Works, Water and Sewer Division, typically makes repairs to the water distribution and sewer collection systems. The debris material from these excavations has been hauled to the Waste Management Chicago Metro Transfer Station in Stickney for the past several years.
