Fiscal Impact
The FY2019 Public Works Department, Building Maintenance Division Operating Budget includes a total of $171,639.58 in accounts 1001-43790-101, 711, 712, 713, 714 and 717-540674 for property repairs. To date, $89,521.67 remains.
If approved, the total contract cost with MJA Plumbing & Sewer Co. would not exceed $40,000.00.
Background
On February 28, 2019, the Village Manager approved an Independent Contractor Agreement and Purchase Order (PO) with MJA Plumbing & Sewer Co., Inc. for emergency plumbing repairs for $20,000.00. As of June 25, 2019, $7,787.89 remains on the PO.
Repairs to the floor drains in the underground parking garage at Village Hall are needed. Staff solicited bids from area plumbers to complete the repairs. MJA submitted the lowest price at $12,750.00.
Additionally, repairs to cracked drain pipes at the Public Works Center will be needed, and staff estimates that cost to be approximately $10,000.00. The balance of $5,037.89 would be for unforeseen repairs needed for the rest of 2019.
Alternatives
The Village Board could delay action to gain additional information.
Previous Board Action
The Village Board has approved similar amendments to repair agreements in the past.
