Overview
The Village received one bid on June 20, 2019 in an amount of $204,500 for Project 19-16, Lake and Forest Granite Planter Installation. The project includes installing a granite curbed planter feature with bronze lettering and decorative lighting on Lake Street at Forest Avenue. In order to save money staff recommends rejecting the one bid and constructing the granite planter as designed with the 2020 Lake Street streetscape project. Fiscal Impact
The recommended FY2020 Budget includes $7,162,022 of funds in the Capital Improvement Fund, Public Works - Engineering, Streetscaping, for the Lake Street Streetscape Project which will be used to fund this work.
Background
Competitive bids were opened on June 20, 2019, for Project 19-16, Lake and Forest Sidewalk Planter Installation. The Village received one bid for this project from MYS, Incorporated in an amount of $204,500. The project includes installing a granite curbed planter feature with bronze lettering and decorative lighting on Lake Street at Forest to coordinate work with the Albion and Vantage developments' streetscape and minimize future disruption with the 2020 Lake Street streetscape project at this location.
Based on direction from the Village Board at the July 8, 2019 regular meeting staff reached out to other potential funding partners for this work such as DTOP and the Albion Development and were not able to get commitments to help fund this work.
