The Fiscal Year 2020 Public Works Fleet Replacement Fund includes the replacement of a 2002 Public Works, Street Division, Sign Maintenance Shop, Versalift Bucket Truck to be replaced with a 2020 Terex LT40 Bucket Truck. The purchase will be made through the Sourcewell Joint Purchasing Program, an opportunity for governments to leverage and pool resources for better pricing.

Fiscal Impact
The purchase of the 2020 Terex LT40 Bucket Truck will cost $123,470.00. Funding is provided in the Public Works Fleet Replacement Fund, account No. 3032-43900-858-570750. $140,000.00 was budgeted for the replacement of this vehicle.
Funds for necessary equipment such as cabin/workspace up fit, light bar, etc. will also come from this account but will be purchased separately from vendors who supply this equipment.
Background
The vehicle that is being replaced assists the Public Works Department in street sign maintenance crews. Some signs are at a height that a bucket truck is needed to safely install or replace street or traffic controls signs. This bucket truck is the same model as the other two bucket trucks used by the Forestry and Street Lighting Divisions. The new truck will also be able to serve as a backup to the other two Divisions.
Each year, the Village allocates funds for the annual replacement of vehicles. The Public Works Department manages the budget for vehicles that will replace those units having reached the end of their service life under the fleet replacement program.
